As I was working my way through unpacking both my stuff and the Temple store from TempleFest I realized I needed to unpack mentally as well this year. There were a lot of experiences and moments just swimming around in my head, so I turned to the brainstorm or brain dump technique to clear my thoughts. I opened to a clean page in my journal and started to write down with no particular order everything that was coming up for me to process right now. I jotted down two pages worth of thoughts, ideas, and remembrances. I thought about how this could become a little blog series since there was so much to unpack. So this is my first post in the series “Unpacking TempleFest.”
For those of you who don’t know what TempleFest is you may find some of this confusing. It is a festival put on by the Temple of Witchcraft on Labor Day weekend. It is a bit of a hybrid because it is a festival has both indoor amenities and is surrounded by nature outdoors. If you want to learn more about it see this website here. Since I am President of the Temple’s board of directors, co-founder, Virgo Lead Minister, Temple store manager, and so on for the Temple, I usually end up having a lot of responsibilities during this major event. So when people ask me if I am having fun during the weekend it always baffles me how to respond. I enjoy TempleFest, but I am not sure I can always label it “fun”. Sometimes people look shocked by my bafflement on how to respond because they are having so much fun and just want to share it with me. I am so grateful they have fun and want to share it with me. Just in case you are worried, I did have a lot of fun at the dance hall of Venus.
This year I was so thankful to Dawn Marie for helping me organize people to mind the Temple store so I had the opportunity to both do Intuitive tarot sessions, present rituals, be a part of Christopher’s keynote, and teach multiple classes. I want to send a shout out of thanks to all who volunteered in the store this year. This is one responsibility of mine where I can feel supported by the community and it allows me to be able to serve in ways that also feed me. There are so many people to thank when it comes to this event that I have to focus on broad thanks to groups of people.
Thanks to the team that puts together and runs TempleFest. I want you to know your work throughout the year is appreciated. Thanks to the presenters who gave us so many amazing classes that people were straining to figure out which to attend. Thanks to our treasurer Jocelyn and her partner Jay for aiding me in transporting the store and packing it up. Thanks to all the people who showed up to TempleFest, without you this event wouldn’t happen.
